B. 4164. Prove that if a triangle can be constructed from every three line segments selected out of a set of 5, then there exist three line segments in the set that form an acute-angled triangle.

Megoldás: Az x\ley\lez oldalakkal bíró háromszög pontosan akkor hegyesszögű, ha x2+y2>z2 teljesül, amiről például a koszinusz-tétel segítségével könnyen meggyőződhetünk. Ha tehát az a\leb\lec\led\lee szakaszok közül semelyik háromból szerkesztett háromszög nem lenne hegyesszögű, akkor a2+b2\lec2, b2+c2\led2, c2+d2\lee2 miatt

e2\ged2+c2\ge2c2+b2\ge3b2+2a2\geb2+2ab+2a2>(a+b)2,

vagyis e>a+b lenne, ami ellentmondana a háromszög-egyenlőtlenségnek.

Megjegyzés: Négy szakaszt azonban könnyen megadhatunk, legyen például a=1, b=\sqrt{2}, c=\sqrt{3}, d=\sqrt{5}.
