Útmutatás: Az összeg 7-tel osztható, de 49-cel nem.

Megoldás: Ha a középső számot n-nel jelöljük, akkor szóban forgó összeg

(n-3)2+(n-2)2+(n-1)2+n2+(n+1)2+(n+2)2+(n+3)2=7(n2+4).

A négyzetszámok 7-tel osztva 0, 1, 2 vagy 4 maradékot adnak, ezért n2+4 nem osztható 7-tel. Ezek szerint a fenti összeg osztható 7-tel, de nem osztható 49-cel, tehát nem lehet négyszetszám.
