Problem C. 1040. (September 2010)

C. 1040. The lawn of a stadium is bounded by two parallel line segments of length 100 metres joined by two 100 metre-long semicircles. By what factor is the area of a circle of perimeter 400 m larger than the area of the lawn?

Megoldás. Az egyenes szakaszok távolságát jelöljük \(\displaystyle 2r\)-rel, így a hozzájuk csatlakozó félkörök sugara \(\displaystyle r\). A félkör kerülete \(\displaystyle \pi r=100\)m miatt \(\displaystyle r=\frac{100}{\pi}m\). A gyep területe pedig a két félkör területének és a közöttük található téglalap alakú gyep területének összege: \(\displaystyle t=\pi r^2+100\cdot 2r=\frac{100}{\pi}(100+200)m^2\). Egy 400m kerületű kör sugara \(\displaystyle R=\frac{400}{2\pi}m\), területe \(\displaystyle T=\frac{40000}{\pi}m^2\).

\(\displaystyle \frac Tt =\frac{40000 \over \pi}{30000 \over \pi}=\mathbf{\frac{4}{3}}\). A gyep területének \(\displaystyle \frac{4}{3}\)-szorosa egy 400m kerületű kör területe.
