Megoldás: Mivel bármely természetes szám 9-el osztva annyi maradékot ad, amennyit a számjegyeinek az összege, ezért két azonos számjegyekből álló természetes szám különbsége osztható 9-el.

Az a szám tehát, amiből Anna kitörölt egy számjegyet, 9-cel osztható volt, így Bélanak csak annyi a dolga, hogy a közölt szám számjegyeinek összegét kiegészíti a hozzá legközelebb álló 9-cel osztható számra.
