Megoldás: Legyen a rövidebbik befogó hossza a-x, a hosszabbiké a, az átfogóé pedig a+x. Ekkor a Pitagorasz tétel szerint

a2+(a-x)2=(a+x)2,

amiből a\neq0 miatt a=4x következik. Tehát az oldalak aránya:

(a-x) : a : (a+x) = 3x : 4x : 5x = 3 : 4 : 5.

A beírt kör sugarát jelölje \varrho. A háromszög területének kétszeresét kétféleképpen felírva:

2T=3x.4x=\varrho.(3x+4x+5x),

ahonnan x\neq0 miatt \varrho=x következik.
