Problem G. 588. (December 2016)

G. 588. The same amount of water is poured into five alike glasses. One ball as well was placed into each glass. The radius of each ball is either 1 cm, 2 cm or 3.5 cm. Then the weight of each glass with the water and the ball in it was measured, and according to their weights they were placed into an increasing order. What is this order and why?

Megoldás. Mivel a poharak egyformák, és a bennük lévő víz mennyisége azonos, a mért súlyok különbözőségét a golyók eltérő tömege okozza. A \(\displaystyle C\) esetben a golyó úszik, a sűrűsége tehát kisebb, mint a víz sűrűsége. Három pohárban (\(\displaystyle B\), \(\displaystyle D\) és \(\displaystyle E\)) a golyók lebegnek a vízben, sűrűségük tehát a vízével megegyező. Az \(\displaystyle A\) esetben a golyó sűrűbb, mint a víz, hiszen lemerül a pohár aljára. A kérdéses sorrend tehát: \(\displaystyle C\), \(\displaystyle D\), \(\displaystyle B\), \(\displaystyle E\) és \(\displaystyle A\).
