K. 378. Some friends had dinner in a restaurant, and decided to give a 15% tip to the waiter. If everyone pays 6000 forints (HUF, Hungarian currency) then the sum will be 2800 forints more than the price of the food but it will not cover the tip. If everyone pays 6600 forints then the sum will cover the tip, too, and they will get 1120 forints back. What was the total on the bill, and how many friends had dinner?

Megoldás. Az első fizetéshez képest a második 10%-kal több. Ez tehát a következőképpen néz ki: ha mindenki 6600 Ft-ot ad be, akkor az étel árához képest 10%-kal több jön össze és még 2800 Ft+10%, ami összesen még 3080 Ft. Ebből visszaadunk 1120 Ft-ot, marad 1960, ami az étel árának 5%-a, ennyi kell ugyanis a 10%-on felül a borravalóhoz. A fizetendő összeg tehát 39200 Ft, az első körben így 42000 Ft-ot adtak össze, vagyis a társaság 7 főből áll.
