Megoldás. A kisebb tömegű neonatomok sebessége nagyobb, mint az ugyanolyan hőmérsékletű argongáz atomjainak sebessége. Emiatt a neon gyorsabban tud ,,megszökni" a Föld légköréből, mint az argon.
