Megoldásvázlat. 1 kg urán hasadásakor kb. \(\displaystyle 8\cdot10^{13}\) J, 1 kg hidrogén fúziója során pedig \(\displaystyle 5\cdot10^{15}\) J kötési energia szabadul fel; a fúzió hatásfoka tehát kb. 60-szor nagyobb.
