a2<a2+4b\lea2+4a<(a+2)2.

Ha a2+4b négyzetszám lenne, akkor csakis a+1 négyzetével lehetne egyenlő. Akkor viszont 4b=2a+1 páratlan szám lenne, ami ellentmondás.
