B. 4473. Consider the cubic equation px3-qx2-rx+s=0 where p, q, r, s are positive numbers such that ps=qr. Prove that the equation has two different real roots. On what condition are there three different roots?

Megoldás: Legyen r/p=s/q=\alpha; ez egy pozitív szám. A bal oldali kifejezést szorzattá alakítva az egyenlet (px-q)(x2-\alpha)=0 alakot ölti, melynek mindhárom gyöke valós. A gyökök x1=q/p>0, x_2=\sqrt{\alpha}>0 és x_3=-\sqrt{\alpha}<0. Nyilván x2\nex3, és a 3 gyök pontosan akkor különböző, ha q/p\ne \sqrt{\alpha}, vagyis ha q2\nepr.
