Megoldás. Tekintsük az \(\displaystyle \alpha = \sqrt[3]{3}^{\sqrt{3}}\) számot. Ha ez véletlen racionális szám volna, akkor \(\displaystyle \sqrt[3]{3}\) rögtön példát is szolgáltatna a feladatban keresett tulajdonságú irracionális számra.
Innentől tehát feltehetjük, hogy \(\displaystyle \alpha\) irracionális. Ekkor \(\displaystyle \alpha^{\sqrt{3}} = \left(\sqrt[3]{3}^{\sqrt{3}}\right)^{\sqrt{3}} = \sqrt[3]{3}^{\sqrt{3} \cdot \sqrt{3}} = \sqrt[3]{3}^{3} = 3\), tehát racionális.
Tehát azt kaptuk, hogy \(\displaystyle \sqrt[3]{3}\) és \(\displaystyle \sqrt[3]{3}^{\sqrt{3}}\) közül valamelyik teljesíti a feladat feltételét.
