Megoldás. Legyen \(\displaystyle a\le b <c\) a háromszög oldalainak hossza. A feltételek szerint \(\displaystyle a+b+c=ab/2\), továbbá \(\displaystyle a^2+b^2=c^2\). Pl. \(\displaystyle (a+b)^2\)-t felírva a feltételből kapjuk az
\(\displaystyle ab=8+4c\)
összefüggést. A háromszög-egyenlőtlenségből \(\displaystyle a+b>c\), így \(\displaystyle ab<8+4a+4b\), azaz \(\displaystyle \displaystyle{a<\frac{8+4b}{b-4}=4+\frac{24}{b-4}}\). Pl. grafikus megfontolás alapján, tekintve, hogy \(\displaystyle a\le b\), \(\displaystyle a<\sqrt{24}+4\), azaz \(\displaystyle a\le 8\). A pitagoraszi számhármasokat (illetve többszöröseit) felhasználva ennek a feltételnek csak a \(\displaystyle 3, 4, 5\), a \(\displaystyle 6, 8, 10\), az \(\displaystyle 5, 12, 13\) és a \(\displaystyle 7, 24, 25\) felelnek meg. A kerületre és a területre vonatkozó feltételeknek csak a második és a harmadik hármas felel meg.
