Megoldás. Tudjuk, hogy \(\displaystyle p=n^2+4\) és \(\displaystyle 2p=n^3-1\). Az első egyenlet kétszeresét a második egyenletből kivonva kapjuk, hogy \(\displaystyle 0=n^3-1-(2n^2+8)\), amiből \(\displaystyle 0=n^3-2n^2-9=(n-3)(n^2+n+3)\) következik. Mivel az \(\displaystyle n^2+n+3=0\) egyenlet diszkriminánsa negatív, ezért az egyetlen megoldás \(\displaystyle n=3\). Ebből \(\displaystyle p=3^2+4=13\), ami valóban prím.
