Megoldás. Legyen a feladatban szereplő derékszögű háromszög két befogója \(\displaystyle a\) és \(\displaystyle b\) \(\displaystyle (a\leq b)\), átfogója \(\displaystyle c\). A háromszög területe a feltétel szerint prím: \(\displaystyle T=\frac{a\cdot b}{2}=p\), ezért \(\displaystyle a \cdot b=2p\), ahol a \(\displaystyle p\) prímszámot jelöl.
- \(\displaystyle c-p=1\), \(\displaystyle c+p=4\), tehát \(\displaystyle c=2,5\), így \(\displaystyle c\) nem egész;
- \(\displaystyle c-p=2\), \(\displaystyle c+p=2\), tehát \(\displaystyle c=2\), \(\displaystyle p=0\).
A fentiek alapján nem létezik a kérdésben szereplő feltételeknek megfelelő háromszög.
