Sejtés: \(\displaystyle n^4+n^2+1=(n\cdot(n-1)+1)\cdot(n\cdot (n+1)+1)\) minden \(\displaystyle n\)-re.
Bizonyítás: \(\displaystyle (n\cdot(n-1)+1)\cdot(n\cdot (n+1)+1)=(n^2-n+1)(n^2+n+1)=n^4+n^3+n^2-n^3-n^2-n+n^2+n+1=n^4+n^2+1\).
Prímszámot csak abban az esetben kaphatunk, ha az egyik (a kisebb) tényező \(\displaystyle 1\).
Az \(\displaystyle n^2-n+1=1\) egyenletből \(\displaystyle n^2=n\), ami \(\displaystyle n = 0\), illetve \(\displaystyle n = 1\) esetén teljesül.
Így \(\displaystyle n = 1\) az egyetlen pozitív megoldás. (\(\displaystyle 1 + 1 + 1 = 3\), ami prímszám.)
Második megoldás. \(\displaystyle n^4+n^2+1=n^4+2n^2+1-n^2=(n^2+1)^2-n^2=(n^2+1+n)(n^2+1-n)\).
Prímszámot csak abban az esetben kaphatunk, ha az egyik (a kisebb) tényező \(\displaystyle 1\).
Az \(\displaystyle n^2-n+1=1\) egyenletből \(\displaystyle n^2=n\), ami \(\displaystyle n = 0\), illetve \(\displaystyle n = 1\) esetén teljesül.
