Megoldás. Legyen \(\displaystyle x\) a fiúk száma. A fiúk összesen \(\displaystyle 20x\), a lányok pedig \(\displaystyle 12\cdot(6-x)\) évesek, míg az összéletkor 96 év. Kapjuk tehát a \(\displaystyle 20x + 12\cdot(6-x) = 96\) egyenletet, ahonnan \(\displaystyle x = 3\). Tehát 3 fiú és 3 lány van. A fiúk és a lányok is hármasikrek, különben lenne olyan, akinek nincs azonos nemű ikertestvére. Ezek szerint a koruk is azonos, tehát a fiúk mindegyike 20 éves, és minden lány 12 éves.
