Megoldás: Legyen a kör középpontja O, OP=d. Az O pontból az AP, illetve BP egyenesre állított merőleges talppontját jelölje F és G. A Pithagorasz tétel többszöri alkalmazásával

OQ2=AF2+BG2=(r2-OF2)+(r2-OG2)=2r2-OP2,

vagyis a Q pont az O középpontú, \sqrt{2r^2-d^2} sugarú körvonalon helyezkedik el. Nem nehéz megmutatni, hogy Q az egész körvonalat befutja, midőn a derékszög körbefordul P körül.
