Megoldás: Egy szín nyilván nem elég, kettő viszont igen. Ha Alíz a kulcsokat valamilyen irányban gondolatban 1-től 8-ig megszámozza, piros sapkát húz az első, a harmadik és a negyedik kulcsra, a többire pedig kéket, akkor utólag is tudni fogja, hol kezdte a számolást (annál a piros kulcsnál, amelyik két kék kulcs között helyezkedik el), és azt is, hogy melyik irányba folytatta (amelyik irányban a másik két piros kulcs közelebb van az elsőhöz).
