Problem C. 1004. (October 2009)

C. 1004. An arbitrary line is drawn through vertex A of a square ABCD, and perpendiculars are dropped onto the line from the vertices B and D. The feet of the perpendiculars are B1 and D1, respectively. Prove that AB12+AD12=BB12+DD12.

A háromszögekben felírva Pitagorasz tételét \(\displaystyle b^2 + x^2 =a^2\) ill. \(\displaystyle d^2 + y^2 =a^2\). Az egybevágóság miatt \(\displaystyle b=y\) és \(\displaystyle d=x\)-ből adódik a fenti két egyenlőség bal oldalainak egyenlősége miatt, hogy \(\displaystyle b^2 + d^2 = x^2 + y^2\), ami pont a bizonyítandó állítás.
