K. 119. There are two tribes living in Binumeria. The difference between the two tribes is that they write numbers in notations using different bases. A member of each tribe was asked how many members their tribe had. Each of them answered 10\;011. How many inhabitants are there in Binumeria, given that each tribe consists of more than 100 but less than 1000 members?

Megoldás. Mivel a 10011 ötjegyű szám, érdemes megnézni, hogy melyik számrendszerben esik az ötödik helyiérték 100 és 1000 közé. A négyes számrendszerben az ötödik helyiérték a 256, így a 10011-nek megfelelő érték 261, az ötös számrendszerben az ötödik helyiérték a 625, így itt 631 a 10011 értéke. A hármas számrend­szerben 100 alatt marad az érték, a hatos számrendszerben, pedig már 1000 fölé megy, így Binumeria la­kosainak száma 261 + 631 = 892.
