Problem K. 364. (January 2013)

K. 364. One edge of a rectangular block of wood measures 10 cm. Three pairwise perpendicular bores, each of 2 cm by 2 cm square cross section, parallel to edges, are made through the block. (The three bores do not meet.) With the first bore made, the surface area of the block grew by 32 cm2. The second bore further increased the surface area by 15.92%. The third bore was made parallel to the 10-cm edge. What was the remaining volume of the block after all three bores being made?

Megoldás. Az első fúrás után a téglatest felszínéből el kell vennünk két 2 cm oldalú négyzet területét, és hozzá kell adnunk a hasáb alakú lyuk belső felszínét, így kapjuk meg a megváltozott felszínt. Mivel a növekmény 32 \(\displaystyle \rm{cm}^2\), ezért a hasáb oldallapjainak összterülete 32 + 8 =40 \(\displaystyle \rm{cm}^2\). A téglatest harmadik élének hosszát jelölje \(\displaystyle x\), a második lyuk ezzel párhuzamosan halad, tehát mélysége \(\displaystyle x\) cm. A második lyuk fúrása előtt a már lyukas téglatest felszíne \(\displaystyle 10x+20x+100+32=30x+132~\rm{cm}^2\) volt, a növekedés pedig ez előzőek alapján \(\displaystyle 8x–8~\rm{cm}^2\), ami a felszín 15,92%-a. Ebből a \(\displaystyle 0,1592\cdot(30x+132)= 8x –8\) egyenlet írható fel, melynek megoldása \(\displaystyle x \approx 9\) cm. A kifúrt test térfogata a kerekített értékekkel (10, 9, 5 cm) számolva az élek hosszát: \(\displaystyle 450 – 4\cdot(10+9+5) = 354 ~\rm{cm}^3\).
