What is KöMaL?

KöMaL — the name is the Hungarian abbreviation for High School Mathematics and Physics Journal — is a monthly periodical for high school students. It was created in 1894. It has been the intellectual craddle for mathematicians like von Neumann, Paul Erdős, or László Lovász. Generations of would be scientists, mathematicians, and also interested students have had their first mathematical experience by trying their hands on the problems posed every month in the journal's yearly problem solving contest. And the children and grandchildren of the first generations already knew that there was the same challenge waiting for them.     Read more...
