Megoldás. Mivel kilenc tippet mondott Sanyi, és minden számban pontosan egy számjegyet talált el, ezért az egyik számjegynek legalább 3 tippben is találatnak kell lennie (ellenkező esetben ugyanis csak legfeljebb 8 tippben lehetne találata, mert összesen 4 számjegy van). Ha megnézzük a tippek számjegyeit helyiértékenként, akkor azt találjuk, hogy csak egy olyan számjegy van, amely háromszor ugyanazon a helyiértéken szerepel, és ez a harmadik helyen álló 2-es számjegy.
